What this target is

Its function as UniProt states it, where in a cell the protein is found, and which cell types and tissues transcribe its gene.

UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A6

UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) that catalyzes phase II biotransformation reactions in which lipophilic substrates are conjugated with glucuronic acid to facilitate their inactivation and excretion from the body15231852,21422672. Essential for the elimination and detoxification of drugs, xenobiotics and endogenous compounds15231852,21422672. Involved in the glucuronidation of arachidonic acid (AA) and AA-derived eicosanoids including 15-HETE and 20-HETE15231852. Conjugates small planar phenolic molecules such as 4-nitrophenol, 1-naphthol, and 4-methylumbelliferone. The bulky phenol 4-hydroxybiphenyl, androgens and estrogens are not substrates. 2-hydroxybiphenyl is an excellent substrate (By similarity). Involved in the glucuronidation of the phytochemical ferulic acid at the phenolic or the carboxylic acid group21422672
Isoform 3 lacks transferase activity but acts as a negative regulator of isoform 1

What it acts with

STRING’s highest-confidence human functional partners. The combined score mixes several kinds of evidence, so each channel is shown separately — a partner supported by experiment is a different claim from one supported only by text mining, and for a receptor this is where its coupling appears as evidence rather than as assertion.

Expression by cell type

Single cell type RNA, the 3 highest of those the Human Protein Atlas reports for this gene. Transcript, not protein, and a cell type rather than a tissue.

  • Salivary duct cells1.1 nCPM

Expression by tissue

The tissues this gene is enriched in, by consensus RNA. A tissue absent from this list is one the Atlas does not call specific for this gene, which is not the same as absent from it.
