What this target is

Its function as UniProt states it, where in a cell the protein is found, and which cell types and tissues transcribe its gene.

Neuropeptide S receptor

G protein-coupled receptor for neuropeptide S (NPS)15947423,16720571,16790440. Receptor activation by NPS initiates a G(q)/GNAQ-dependent phospholipase C-activating signaling pathway, resulting in Ca(2+) mobilization from intracellular stores and increased intracellular Ca(2+) levels15312648,15947423,16720571,16790440,25714705,26865629. In addition to this pathway, NPS binding to its receptor activates cAMP/PKA signal transduction26865629. Finally, both pathways converge to activate ERK1/ERK2 phosphorylation and signaling cascade26865629. Inhibits cell growth in response to NPS binding15947423

What it acts with

STRING’s highest-confidence human functional partners. The combined score mixes several kinds of evidence, so each channel is shown separately — a partner supported by experiment is a different claim from one supported only by text mining, and for a receptor this is where its coupling appears as evidence rather than as assertion.
